中央檢查醫務院是負責檢查和解剖死因不明的猝死、事故死和自殺等一切非自然死亡遺體的機構。有一天，一直苦於人手不足的醫務院，迎來了一位新人法醫松本真央。她是一位IQ150的才女，在學生時代就沉迷於法醫界，是個怪才。
真央剛上任就接到了數例解剖手術，慌忙地度過了一天。但在當天傍晚，一群死者家屬蜂擁到醫務院，要求醫務院對遺體進行解剖，他們要弄清楚死因。遺體是一位從工地腳手架上墜落而死的男性。按道理醫院是不接受不請自來的解剖的，但是死者家屬過於難纏，醫院就暫時接受了遺體。但是真央感受到了死者家屬“再次見面時，你已全身冰冷”的這種心情，於是擅自開始了解剖。她從遺體所留下的細小痕跡中，能否發覺事件的真相呢？
